Wild Pathway Favourites

Here’s a link to the January edition of my Californian radio show Wild Pathway Favourites on KOWS.FM, available to listen for a limited period.
Martin Archer is a UK based musician, composer, producer and record label owner, whose taste in music runs from leftfield to nearfield. Jazz, improvisation, progressive, electronic and songform music are all part of both his own and the label’s music universe.
In the third show of the series, “Blow Gabriel”, Archer follows the opening rallying cry of the Reverend Gary Davies and guesses how various musicians might respond.

Das Rad – work starts on new album

The new recording year at Discus Music begins with a session from Das Rad – Martin Archer, Nick Robinson, Steve Dinsdale, Jon Short Peter Rophone – putting down some improvisations from which our fifth album Funfair will be gradually constructed over the next months.

Starting in November 2023, Discus Music boss Martin Archer has been presenting a monthly radio show “Wild Pathway Favourites” on the independent California radio station KOWS.FM.  Going out in the evening of the second Saturday each month.  Drawn from music in Archer’s personal collection, the show is as wildly eclectic as you might expect.

Tony Oxley RIP

Tony Oxley, 15/6/1938 26/12/2023.

Discus Music is honoured to have had an association with this iconoclastic musician since re-releasing Tony’s seminal “February Papers” album in 2020. Tony’s final recording, The New World, was released by the label just a few weeks prior to his passing, and positive reviews were just starting to appear.  More work was planned which sadly will not be completed.

Our thoughts are with Tony’s widow Tutta at this sad time.

 

Ron Caines / Martin Archer AXIS

Last session of 2023 – Johnny Hunter recording drum parts for the next Ron Caines / Martin Archer AXIS album today at Discus Music. The album – being the fifth Caines / Archer collaboration  – will be released towards the end of 2024 and also features Hervé Perez, Laura Cole, Michael Bardon, Anton Hunter and Gus Garside.
